The Technical Assistance Program (TAPs), sponsored by the Oregon Heritage Commission, allows SOHS to provide free technical assistance to any non-profit museum in southern Oregon.

General Museum Resources The Oregon Historic Sites Database allows visitors to search online for historic buildings throughout the state. The OMA website includes Professional Tools of downloadable policy manuals from Oregon museums, including collections management and strategic planning. The Small Museums Community, through AASLH, is a growing online community geared towards those working in small institutions, and it offers resources and opportunities for dialogue. Collections Management NPS Museum Handbook is a reference guide on how to manage, preserve, document, access and use museum collections. NPS Conserve O Grams are short pamphlets on caring for museum objects, available online. Topics range from Museum Collection Preservation to Metal Objects. AASLH publishes a series of Technical Leaflets at a low cost that provide detailed information for museum professionals. The Training for Texas Museums workshop sources features videos about different aspects of museum work. Grants Oregon Heritage Commission provides grants for cultural organizations throughout the state. They offer free Heritage Bulletins filled with tips, ideas, and more. The Oregon Museum Association is a nonprofit educational membership organization whose mission is to support the museums of Oregon, representing more than 200 institutions and professionals. AASLH, the American Association for State and Local History, provides leadership and support for its members who preserve and interpret state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans.
